Masood Sharif Khan Khattak
Masood Sharif Khan Khattak joined the Pakistan Army with 43rd PMA in 1968. He was commissioned in 16 Baluch in 1970 and saw the 1971 War in Azad Kashmir with the then 8 AKRF. Later, after having been an Instructor in the Tactical Wing of the Infantry School he graduated with the 1978 Command and Staff Course. In 1987 he retired from the Army on medical grounds and was taken into civil service in 1988 by the then Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He then served in the Intelligence Bureau till he became the Organisation's Director General (DG IB) for the period 1993-96. He was awarded Hilal e Shujaat as DG IB. He was also Member of the Pakistan Peoples Party Central Executive Committee from 1999 to 2007 and was also, concurrently, the Vice President Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian. He resigned from these political positions in protest to the PPP making deals to come to power. Ever since he is in active politics and appears as a political, security and defence analyst on national and international television.
